He left in 1993 to follow a solo singer/songwriter path, which resulted in the L.P. in 1994 "If A Man Ever Loved A Woman". He was then asked to join The Boo Radleys and once again his own music was put on hold. After enjoying a No.1 LP with the Boo's and watched his beat mate McGee try to keep a lid on the phenomenon that is Oasis, he felt inspired to record a new L.P. "Catholic Guilt" which he and McGee worked on through 1996. McGee said, "After watching the success of Oasis and the whole Boo Radleys pop success, the songs Ed wrote for this L.P. were 150% better than anything he had ever done before. Suddenly I knew he could have chart success. The quality was finally there." Edward Ball toured last year with The Divine Comedy, The Boo Radleys and The Lightning Seeds. This year he will appear on Top Of The Pops, headline his own tours and receive gold records. Edward Ball, to some a religion, to others an overnight success.
