The last of the big Creation releases of 1991 was the album that at the time gained the most international recognition, Teenage Fanclub’s Bandwagonesque.
Despite huge critical acclaim back home, much of the success happened the other side of the Atlantic with Spin Magazine listing it at No.1 in their albums of 1991. This was the same year when one of the biggest albums of the decade was released in the form of Nirvana’s Nevermind.
The success of Nirvana really helped Teenage Fanclub with Kurt Cobain a huge fan and inviting them on much of the Nevermind tour.
25 years later and Teenage Fanclub have been touring for much of this month following the success of their recent ‘Here’ album. The tour concludes at the beginning of December with two dates in Glasgow.
Following a great gig in Norwich the other night (see photo by yours truly below) the band jumped on the train to London to talk to Pete Paphides on Soho Radio, you can listen to the show below.
The show is a really enjoyable two hours of top tunes and great stories from the band.
‘Here’ has also justifiably been appearing in many end of year lists following their first UK top 10 appearance since 1997. If you still don’t own a copy you can order it here.
Teenage Fanclub return in the new year with another London date at Shepherd’s Bush Empire on February 26th 2017.
