Creation re-released one of the best and overlooked albums of the 80s in 1997, ‘Don’t Stand Me Down’ was the third album from Dexy’s Midnight Runners.
After the huge success of their second album ‘Too-Rye-Ay’ the band went away for three years to record the follow-up. For all kinds of reasons the album failed to set the charts alight and the band split two years later.
A long-term fan of the band McGee reissued the record when Kevin Rowland was able to rename two of the tracks to what he had originally wanted to call them and an additional two tracks were added.
In 2000 BBC ran a series called ‘Young Guns (Go For It)’ about hugely successful bands of the early 80s. One show was dedicated to Dexy’s Midnight Runners. You can watch the full programme below where in the latter part of the show they discuss the album, but you know you should watch all of it….
