Memoirs Of A Shoegazing Gentleman

Memoirs of a shoegazer

‘Memoirs Of A Shoegazing Gentleman’ was originally published as a spoof column in NME between October 26, 1991 and February 1, 1992, written by writer and broadcaster David Quantick in the guise of Lord Tarquin.

Sonic Cathedral are to launch a new book illustrated by designer Marc Jones, featuring the 10 original chapters, plus a brand new epilogue which brings the story of the pupils of Shoey House right up to date in a morass of middle-class mockery, double entendres and badly translated Latin. You can see a sneak preview above featuring some familiar Creation artists.

The book will be available from the Sonic Cathedral stall at the Independent Label Market in London on Saturday, July 12, and afterwards from the Sonic Cathedral online store.

There will also be a launch party at The Social in London on Monday, July 7. An Evening With Lord Tarquin & Friends will feature David Quantick reading from the book alongside Mark Gardener of Ride playing live and DJ performances from some very special guests who all happen to be Lord Tarquin’s old school chums. Entry is free!
