“This is a label of love..” Alan McGee, August ’88
This week marks the 25th anniversary of Creation Records legendary ‘Doing It For The Kids’ compilation album and concert in London.
On Sunday 7th August 1988, the hottest day of the year in Kentish Town, the cream of the labels roster took to the stage.
The following day an album was released to celebrate, the sleeve proclaimed the album to be “A 15 track compilation LP for the price of a 7″ single from Creation.” Also released the same day were two of the most influential records of its generation, My Bloody Valentine’s ‘You Made Me Realise’ and The House of Love’s ‘Destroy The Heart’.
Below is a Spotify playlist with the closest selection of tracks we could get to the original album.
